Provitamin A (which once consumed transforms into vitamin A), and vitamin E, which contain antioxidant properties for our bodies and help to improve vision, good skin condition, hair, mucosa, bones and the fortitude of the immune system. In relation to their mineral composition, they are rich in potassium, necessary for muscular activity.

Another of the components of this fruit are anthocyanins, which provide an antiseptic and antioxidant action, blocking free radicals thereby reducing bad cholesterol and fighting infectious processes as well as the formation of arteriosclerosis, reducing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk.

But if there is one quality popularly recognised in the plum it is its laxative action thanks to high content in fibre, sorbitol and derivates of hydroxyphenylisatin, which stimulate the muscles of the colon and protect the intestinal mucosa, and it is therefore ideal for breakfast as a preventive measure against constipation problems.

Table grapes

We produce seedless table grape and seed. Our grape is meaty average diameter is 16 to 25 millimeters depending on variety. The skin color is different depending on the variety, can look greenish or yellowish, red, purple, blue or black tones. Its pulp is juicy and sweetish.

Due to new market trends table grapes, where industry seedless varieties, 2,002 ITUM was created (company Research and Technology Table Grape SL) to try to get new varieties of this fruit with greater adaptation to the production area and could compete with other producers such as California, South Africa, Israel and Italy.

The Plum is a founding partner of ITUM. We also cooperate with other international breeders as SUNWORLD, SNFL, IFG and others.

This project will also collaborate IMIDA (Murciano Research Institute and Agricultural Development and Agri-Food) and the INIA (National Institute for Agricultural Research). At present this initiative accredits Murcia as a national reference in the cultivation of table grapes.

Currently 70% of table grape varieties produced in the region are apirenas, the remaining 30% belong to the more traditional seed varieties.

Features of Table Grapes

The grape is a fleshy fruit that comes in long clusters formed by round or oval grains, whose average diameter is 16 to 25 millimeters depending on variety. The skin color is different depending on the variety, can look greenish tones or amrillentos, red, purple, blue or black. Its pulp is juicy and sweetish

Origin of Tables Grapes

The grape is one of the first crops cultivated by humans for consumption. samples grown seeds are known during the Neolithic period in archaeological sites in Switzerland, Italy and pharaonic tombs of ancient Egypt. Experts locate the origin of grape growing on the shores of the Caspian Sea, spreading to the rest of Europe through trade in the Mediterranean. The development of grape plantations would be extended by the Roman civilization, even putting it in cold countries in northern Europe.

As with other products, would be the Spaniards who brought the grape to the American continent, spreading rapidly.

Table grapes growing

Today grape cultivation is spread throughout the warmer and drier regions of the five container has. In Spain the province that has traditionally monopolized the cultivation of table grapes in the domestic and European markets, is Murcia.

Vega Media - Alta del Segura, specifically the municipalities of Abarán, Blanca and Cieza where cultivation of grapevines was developed from the Spanish Civil War; and Valle del Guadalentín, with Totana, Alhama de Murcia, Puerto Lumbreras and Aledo, concentrate the regional production of this crop.

In the Region of Murcia seedless table grape seed and grown.

In the first grains are thick and harvesting takes place from mid-July until December.

Old seedless varieties (seedless) marketed a few decades for the production of raisins ago, hardly consumed fresh because of its smaller size. However, new varieties combined with special cultivation techniques (pruning, thinning of bunches, ringed) made the seedless grapes reach marketable size improving its appearance and quality, from a few years to be the most demanded by consumers.

Due to new market trends table grapes, where industry seedless varieties, 2,002 ITUM was created (company Research and Technology Table Grape SL) to try to get new varieties of this fruit with greater adaptation to the production area and could compete with other producers such as California, South Africa, Israel and Italy. Table grapes benefits for health

Among the nutrients that provide grapes include sugars and vitamins. The first (mostly glucose and fructose) provide calories the body, while the latter (folic acid and vitamin B6) involved in the production of red and white blood cells in the synthesis of genetic material and the formation of antibodies in the immune system, so they are especially recommended during the first months of pregnancy because it can prevent spina bifida or various alterations in the development of the fetal nervous system.

They also help vitamins, particularly B6, to maintain the normal functions of the brain.

Phenolic compounds in grapes are responsible for color and flavor, providing a powerful antioxidant action. Among them are the subject of numerous investigations tannins, anthocyanins and flavonoids, to be effective in blocking the growth of cancerous tumors.

In particular flavonoids promote circulation in arteries through vasodilation increases blood flow and combats arteriosclerosis. Because of these characteristics grapes strengthens the good condition of the arteries and hence heart.

The fiber content of the grapes gives them as a mild laxative properties, so its use is recommended unpeeled and nuggets in people suffering constipation. Also recommended are a fruit by its diuretic effect, beneficial in cases of gout, kidney stones, high blood pressure and other ailments associated with fluid retention.
